Women's Senior Midland League Result, Sat 30th May
Race Fixtures and Results

24 athletes came along to the meeting at Corby including Sam Gray, Laura Reed and Sophie Bridges who travelled straight to the venue.

A good day was had by all and the team finished in 3rd place after leading for most of the day.

Please read the full report courtesy of Ian Moss and book a space in your diary for the next league meeting at Kettering on the 3rd of July.

Many thanks go to our kind sponsors for the event; Sweatshop, Easy Runner and Bristol Cricket Academy.

Selected highlights

Sam Gray won her 3000m (10.23.2) and 1500m and was an inspiration to the rest of the girls and I have to say was a perfect ambassador for the club.

Vicky Crook won the B race in 12.53.3

Laura Reed won her LJ with 5.15

Amber Cottam won her B event in the Javelin with 24.48m - a new pb

Hayley Pitman, depenable as ever, achieved 1.45 in HJ and 12.6 in the 80MH to place 2nd in both events.

U15's Best performance went to Stephanie Sale who competed in the HJ and obtained 1.30

U15's most improved performance went to Kathryn Newman who achieved a pb of 14.6 in the 100m.

Marie Mespoulede (French U23 Iinternational) came 2nd in her 400m to a competitor who ran 55.5 secs!

Christina Jones achieved 29.52m in the Senior Javelin - a new pb and 2nd place and tremendous result considering she is still an U17 athlete! She received most improved performance for an U17 athlete.

Eve Lockett won her 400MH B race in 1.15, a fantastic performance for someone who hasn't trained for the event. She received best performance for U17's.

The most improved Senior performance was awarded to Sam Moore who improved her pb for the 100MH by 1 second.

However the best performance of the day was by our star 400 M athlete, Caroline Powell, who won the 400M B race and broke the over 50'S European record(61.1)

We were in poll position for most of the day but eventually came 3rd because we were penalised for not having enough officials. This was desperately disappointing for all the competitors and those people who came along including Mike Strange, Jim Strudwick and Colin Hickey.

Final positions:

1 Kettering 241
2 Corby 240
3 Bristol 230
4 Dash 222
5 Kidderminster 131
6 Shrewsbury 111

Please be reminded that Midland League for women is a Club priority.
