 Weekend Athletics Round Up
Bristol and West AC NewsAll the local athletic news for the weekend of 22nd/23rd January, thanks to the Bristol Evening Post and Green Un.

ROB Whalley finished fifth in the latest Reebok Cross Challenge event in Cardiff.
The Bristol and West AC runner, representing England, couldn't hold on to eventual winner Peter Riley and was slightly disappointed not to get close to the top three at Bute Park.
"Rob felt he could have done better," said coach Mike Down.
Further down the field the Bristol and West AC quartet of Alec Woods, Clive Bromhall, Phil Parry and Dan Moore won the veterans' team event.
Now in the senior ranks former British junior international Gary Davenport finished a creditable eighth in the 4k race.
"I'm pretty pleased with that," said Davenport.
David Awde, a winner in Belfast recently, continued his progress by finishing sixth in the U20s race.
In the women's race top local runner was Bristol and West's Caroline Kloiber in 20th with Sam Gray 25th.

* Running for England in Elgoibar, Spain, Bristol and West clubmates Amy Stiles and Lucy Hasell finished sixth and eighth respectively in a quality race won by Kenyan Alice Timbilli.
Clevedon AC's Steph Barnes was fourth in the U17s event.

* In the Oldbury-on-Severn  5k race Bristol and West's newly crowned county champion Martin Hula was out-sprinted by Cheltenham's Dan Duke in the closing stages. Westbury Harriers' Hilary Dyer won the women's race.

* Annabel Granger led a Bristol and West AC clean in the latest Weston Promenade 5 miles road race with newcomer Rebecca Randell runner-up and Sharon Dixon third.

* Former Bristol and West athlete Amy Woodman edged ever closer to the six-metre barrier with a presonal best leap of 5.98m to finish third in the long jump at the Jeff White Motors Indoor International, in Cardiff.
Christian North was second in the pole vault (4.90m) won by Bath's Scott Simpson (5.15).
James Townsend, coached by B&W's Paul Weston, won the triple jump with a personal best of 14.73m.
