Midland Road relay report, Junior Girls
Young AthletesYou can read how the Junior girls got on in the Midland Road Relays....

Report by Garath Davies, Team Manager.

The Midland road relays kicked off for the junior girls with the under 15 age group as we had no team in the under 13 category. The A team was led off by Bristols and Wests new comer Katie Knowles, having driven up from Truro she ran an impressive 14.43 against some of the best opposition in the Midlands. Handing over to Zoe Davies (16.19), leg two saw a close battle for supremacy with the lead changing several times over the course of the lap, now in 5th place Eve Lockett (16.40) took over and had to run her fastest time ever over the course to maintain 5th place. This was an excellent position for our club and bettered last years placing. The B team 1st leg runner Sophie Bridges (17.06) had a hard battle and did well to come in 22nd to hand over to Lucy Taylor (16.29) who through consistent pace picked up 9 places. Now in 13th place Petra (17.14) brought the team home in a creditable 15th position considering none of them had run this course previously. The C team of Grace Copplestone (18.08), Ellie Trigg (20.26) and Fay Holbrow (23.58) ran well over this distance for the first time to finish in 30th place.

The under 17 woman were led off by A team runner Emma Reed (14.39) and B team runner Vicky Crook (17.20), both ran well to bring the teams home in 3rd and 16th place respectively. Bethan Davies (14.21) and Kate Fish (19.58) picked up a place a piece, which left Ruth Mitchell (14.38) and Jenny Fish (21.26) to bring the teams home in 2nd and 15th places.

A silver medal for Emma, Bethan and Ruth and the second for the club in this age group for the second year on the trot, still with some of the under 15s moving up next year you never know!
