 NYAL Tamworth

The star of the day for the team was Lucy Bryan with three new personal bests ( 70m hurdles, long jump and high jump ) . The 1.41 m high jump won her the female field athlete of the match award.

The match result was exceedingly close and remains in doubt. The almost certain outcome is that both Bristol & West and Tamworth will be relegated from the Premier Division to a Division 1 along with Carmarthen and Bridgend & Neath. Relegation is mainly the consequence of members not fully supporting the team not only at this match but throughout the season. One more winning athlete in one event could have changed 4th place to second yesterday and relegation would have been avoided.

Yesterday was an enjoyable day of competition. New athlete Xavier Fox made an impact in the under 13 sprints sharing alternate second places with Julian Mogg. The under 13 girls were the most consistent group with all of them achieving graded performances.

Hopefully the team will develop and bounce back next season. A challenge for both the athletes and the management team.

Hilary Nash
