There are a range of level 1 and 2 officials courses coming up in the next couple of months. Please read more for details.

University of Gloucestershire, Oxstalls Campus, Gloucester

Level 1 Officials Award Course
Saturday 28th October 2006

The Award Courses provide the opportunity for people aged 14 plus to qualify as UK Athletics Level 1 Assistant Officials.

The course takes a multidisciplinary approach, preparing the individual to act in a variety of different officiating capacities. On completion of the course individuals will have a sound understanding of the key officiating roles and be competent to assist qualified officials in the role of Starter, Marksman, Timekeeper, Track Judge, and Field Judge. Assisting at sportshall and off-track events are also covered.

What does it involve?
The course consists of a 3 – 4 hour workshop delivered by a trained tutor. Attendees are then required to undertake a minimum of 2 practical experience sessions and complete a registration form.

Level 2 Officials Award Course
Saturday 4th November 2006 

The Award Courses are for individuals who wish to become a qualified Athletic Official. These courses will develop knowledge and skills as an official and will enable participants to specialise in a discipline; Timekeeping, Starting/Marksman, Track or Field Judging 

Level 1 is not a prerequisite for Level 2. The Level 2 is equivalent to the current Grade IV/ III Official and assessment is dependent not only on knowledge of the rules, but application of this knowledge, practical competence and experience.
