Young Athletes

Bristol & West top two U/17 women, Katie Knowles and Emma Reed again proved that they are in good form and capable of mixing it with some of the top U/17 women in the country in the UKA Challenge Cross Country races at Cardiff.

Both Katie and Emma started the 4k race in the leading group for the first 1k when the Mc Hale twins(Halesown AC) and Ellie Sprake (Ipswich AC) forged ahead of the pursuing pack, opening up a gap of 80m.

Katie increased her pace catching the McHale twins and started to reel in Sprake, who eventually proved too strong for the Cornish girl finishing in a very satisfying 2nd place in a time of 14.04. Emma continued her return to form with her now trade mark gritted run to finish in 7th in a time of 14.44.

Katie now turns her attention to the Southern Counties at Exmouth and Emma travels to Leamington for the Midlands Counties.
