Bristol Year of Sport - Mile Challenge

Race Fixtures and Results

This is the inaugural staging of this event, which is part of the Bristol Half Marathon weekend. Other fun activities are taking place in Queen Square on the same date, the Half Marathon being on Sunday 12 September. The year 2004 is Bristol Year of Sport for Bristol City Council, which is promoting the event with Bristol & West AC.

The course is in a splendid setting, bounded by Bristol Cathedral and the Council House. It is approximately triangular and will be entirely surrounded by barriers during the event. The surface is the paved paths around College Green and the corners are acute. However, the course was used in the mid-1990s, when it proved popular with runners.

There will be races for the U11s through to Seniors at 15-minute intervals. There are attractive prizes for each race and also for breaking the existing senior course records. All presentations will be made after the event in Queen Square, starting at 4pm.
